Electirc Würms, a side project of The Flaming Lips, has released a new song titled “The Bat”. The five minute 18 second track is part of the band’s debut LP Musik, Die Schwer Zu Twerk which will be released on August 18.
Electirc Würms is made up of Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd from Flaming Lips. Additionally, band members include Charlee, Chance, Doom, and Will from Linear Downfall. The group released single previously, “Heart of the Sunrise”, which can be listened to here. There new release, “The Bat” gives fans a true taste of what Electric Würms is about. The song has a uniquely electric vibe that aids in separating Electric Würms from The Flaming Lips.
In a press release Coyne commented on Electric Würms’ formation stating, “”I think Steven and I often longed for this side of the Flaming Lips that didn’t always have to be Wayne’s singing and a reflection of Wayne’s world and all that. This is not full of Wayne-isms or anything like that. It’s a whole other part of the Lips universe.”
