19 Year Old Passes Away After Hard Summer Fest

Another electronic dance music festival has turned up what looks to be a tragic drug overdose. L.A. County Department of Coroner official identified the 19 year old who passed away at Hard Summer Festival as Emily Tran of Anaheim.

While the autoposy is currently being conducted, coroner’s Lt. Ed Corral told LA Weekly that the sheriff’s officials believed the teen had turned up positive for signs of typical dance music festival drug, ecstasy. The organizers of the two-day concert at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area released a statement expressing their condolences, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.”

In the wake of recent tragedy surrounding overdoses common at EDM festivals, many venues in the area of Hard Summer have refused to hold the concerts such as the L.A. Coliseum and LA’s Sports Arena. The festival this year which featured Tiesto, A$AP mob and others, had over 38,000 concertgoers and saw 140 arrests, 20 of which were narcotics related according to the sheriff’s official.
