Justin Townes Earle has released a new song titled “Time Shows Fools” off of his upcoming album Single Mothers set to be released September 9.
“Time Shows Fools” is something you might listen to on a Sunday afternoon thinking about the days gone by. Earle’s guitar playing has a smooth, crisp sound to it and the guitar solo about halfway through is by far the best part of the song. The lyrics seem to counteract the quite relaxing tune of the song. They paint the realization that we are unable to escape the past or change it. Earle seems to be saying that none of us can get away from the past or be immune to the effects of time.
“Wish i could turn around and walk away with no regrets,” Earle sings, but makes it clear that this is something he believes will never happen.
Earle’s voice is raw, evoking much emotion. Something about it brings to mind the musician Van Morrison.
Earle previously released another song from his new album called “White Gardenias”. To learn more about this, click here.
