Lana Del Rey recently released a new music video for her song, “Ultraviolence” from her sophomore album of the same title. It was directed by Francesco Corrozzini, and marks a transition for the singer to a more simplistic video style.
In the past, Del Rey has been known to inhabit expertly crafted worlds during a music video, like the beach party atmosphere of “West Coast”. She has been busy this summer, releasing “Shades Of Cool”, “Cruel World”, and “Is This Happiness” throughout the month of June.
This new video features Del Rey wearing a white off the shoulder wedding dress as she wanders through a garden. After stopping to antagonize the videographer and devour a peach, the bride-to-be finally makes it to the chapel, but it may not be the fairytale she’d dreamt.
In the verses, Del Rey’s vocals are set apart by an echo effect and a tinkling piano line. And, the choruses have a jazzy-pop feel featuring a choir of Del Ray’s harmonies driving home the lyrics.
