Valerie Anne Poxleitner, better known as Lights, is a Canadian pop rock singer. She began her career as a writer for Sony/ATV Music Publishing and a singer in the metal band Shovel Face. She composed for the TV series Instant Star before beginning her solo career. In 2008 she signed a record deal with Canada’s Underground Operations as well as Doghouse Records in the US. That same year her EP Lights came out and she began touring in the two countries. Her first full-length The Listening came out in 2009. Later that year Lights left Underground Operations for Lights Music Inc, her own record label. Lights then toured then toured with Keane, Stars of Track and Field and Owl City throughout the US and Canada. She released an acoustic EP, Acoustic, in 2010 and was featured on Owl City’s All Things Bright and Beautiful as well as Bring Me The Horizon’s There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret. Her third album Siberia came out the next year and in 2014 she released Little Machines, her fourth full-length.
