Minus The Bear Announces New Album Lost Loves For October 2014 Release

Minus the Bear is ready to roar again. The Seattle indie rockers are setting up for the release of Lost Loves, their fifth studio album. It’s due out this October, and it comes with tour dates. Check it all out after the jump.

Veteran bands have a tendency to rack up loose ends. Not every song makes it off the runway – plenty of them just burn up in the hangar – and together they constitute a sort of quiet canon that generally stays solidly in the dark. Such is the case with Minus the Bear; they’ve been writing and recording material for a long, long time (around 7 years in their current lineup), but unlike other acts, they’re not just going to let them moulder.

And so we get Lost Loves. Thought that title was talking about girls? Naw man, songs. As bassist Cory Murchy puts it:

“Inevitably some of your favorite songs are going to be cut in the necessity of creating the right sequence for that particular time…Regardless of the reason they weren’t included, it wasn’t for lack of love and appreciation of the songs themselves.”

Sometimes it’s just hard to let go. Lost Loves is composed of all those titles that just didn’t make the final cut. They’ve been dusted off, polished, and apparently make for a pretty good album. Murchy went on record to say that the compilation was as good “any other album” they’ve put together.

There’s also a tour in the offing. In keeping with the nostalgic tone of the new album, it’s also partly in support of the 10th anniversary re-release of the band’s beloved EP, They Make Beer Commercials Like This. Full dates and ticket link below.
