It’s best to preface this article by admitting that Thom Yorke can cause a media furor by picking his nose. On the other hand, you can’t blame us for getting excited over this: we’re getting close to Radiohead’s projected start date for recording new material.
There’s been a bit of a break since 2012’s King of Limbs. Radiohead, by and large, aren’t really known for breaks, so it was surprising to hear each member taking some time for themselves – but, well, less surprising to hear that the break didn’t last very long. And, of course, everyone’s been busy in the meantime; Yorke and producer Godrich released an album with Atoms for Peace, Selway recorded some solo material, Jonny Greenwood’s been rehashing his There Will be Blood score, while bassist Colin Greenwood performed at Paris Fashion Week. Nice and restful, right?
Right. But that R&R may be wrapping up. Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke have both mentioned future recording plans when asked, and Greenwood has consistently specified a reunion date around September. We’ll have to sit and watch on this one, but signs point to new material soon.
