Weezer has come back onto the music scene with their new song “Back to the Shack” from their upcoming album Everything Will Be Alright In The End that is set to be released on September 30.
“Back to the Shack” comes in very strong, with the guitars strumming intensely and a steady beat carried by the drums.
Rivers Cuomo’s voice is very fitting to the style of the song. The chorus tune is simple, but catchy.
As far as lyrics, the song seems autobiographical.
Cuomo sings “Take me back, back to the shack…more hardcore, rocking out like it’s ’94.”
The American rock band formed in the 1990s and their first album known as The Blue Album was released in 1994 and was very successful.
The band therefore seems to seek to go back to when they first started. They want to get back to what they loved about music.
Through this song, the band also seems to be saying: let’s be the real us and show the world our true forms.
“I’m letting all of these feelings out even if it means I fail,” Cuomo sings.
There is a lot of energy that pulses out of the song, which promises something new and exciting in store for Weezer fans.
Weezer hasn’t released an album since 2010. To read more about their new album go here.
