Amassing a veritable who’s who of featured artists for his next record, EDM producer Avicii is reaching out to some of rock’s biggest names, including System of a down’s Serj Tankian.

Avicii’s sophomore effort is also slated to feature collaborations with rock juggernauts Green day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Incubus’s Mike Einziger, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Jon Bon Jovi.

Avicii previously worked with Einziger in a creative capacity on “True,” the EDM producer’s internationally acclaimed previous album. Einziger is the only returning collaborator that has been announced so far.

The follow-up to “True” suggests a marked shift for the EDM producer’s sound. The last album skewed more heavily toward soul musicians like Aloe Blacc and Salem Al Fakir, as well as country artists like Mac Davis and Dan Tyminski.

Varying his musical style is nothing new for Avicii.

Avicii intended “True” to signal a change in his sound, and the new list of collaborations with artists like Tankian for his forthcoming follow-up suggests yet another sonic shift.
