Luscious Jackson was formed in 1991 by Jill Cunniff (vocals, bass) and Gabby Glaser (vocals, guitar). After opening for the Beastie Boys and Cyprus Hill in New York City, they signed to Grand Royal. Vivian Trimble (keyboards, vocals) and Kate Schellenbach (drums) were adding in 1992 during the recording of the In Search of Manny EP. The released included songs from their original demo which the band recorded the previous year.
Their first full length Natural Ingredients was released off Grand Royal, which was owned by the Beastie Boys, in 1994. The band toured, played Lollapalooza and appeared as a musician guest on Saturday Night Live. In 1996 they released Fever in Fever Out and Electric Honey two years later. The band announced that they would no longer tour or record due to personal reasons. Capitol Records released Greatest Hits in 2007. The band had announced plans the previous year to reunite. Magic Hour was released in 2013.
