Sleep has released a new song “The Clarity” as part of the 2014 Adult Swim’s Singles Program. This is the first recording that Sleep has released in 20 years.
In 2009 Sleep reunited with new band members, Al Cisneros (bassist), Matt Pike (guitarist), and Jason Roeder (drummer). The new song, “The Clarity”, seems to follow suit with the band’s established style. In a statement to NPR, Sleep said the song is a reflection of their experience with marijuana.
Consequence of Sound described the song as, “crafting dense, often murky metal, a colossal instrumental number that builds from staticky guitars and slow, lumbering drums into a sweltering cacophony of pulverizing metal.
