Gerrit Welmers (keyboards and programming), William Cashion (bass, acoustic and electric guitars), and Samuel T. Herring (lyrics and vocals) make up synth pop act Future Islands. The band was formed in 2006 in North Carolina. Parts of the band originially formed Art Lord & and Self-Portraits until it broke up in 2005. As Future Islands they self-released Little Advances in 2006. They released their debut album Waves Like Home in 2008. It was released off of Upset the Rhythm. This was followed by In Evening Air in 2010 and On the Water in 2011, both off of Thrill Jockey. Their most recent release Singles was released in early 2014 off of 4AD.
The show is part of Vans House Parties, a free concert series hosted by FYF. Attendees required to RSVP for the concert on the Van’s website. Two tickets can be reserved per person. Attendance is first come first serve based on venue capacity, RSVP’ing DOES NOT guarantee entry.
