Weird Al Yankovic is at it again and again. Another hilarious music video from his continuing sense of humor that makes people laugh and wonder how he’s able to come up with hit records from other musicians and producers hit records. This time he’s done it with “one of the biggest hits of 2014,” says Yahoo Music—Iggy Azalea’s Fancy. But instead of being fancy, he’s so handy.
This new Iggy parody clip contains comedic lyrics like “First things first, I’m a craftsman. Remodeling is my only passion…There’s nothing in this world that I can’t fix,” while he makes funny facial expressions and carries around a wrench and other handyman tools during a comical dance routine. The vivid animations and filmography brings to life his clever twist to the original song, as he sings, “I’m so handy, you already know. I’ll fix your plumbing, when your toilets overflow.”
But that’s not all. According to Yahoo Music, Weird Al is releasing one music video a day from his 14th studio album called Mandatory Fun. Handy is one of them. So far, he has also released Tacky, a parody of Pharrell’s hit song Happy. He sings “Because I’m tacky” to make fun of those who have strange habits like wearing stripes with plaid, instagramming every meal they eat, taking selfies at funerals, and the list goes on. He even calls someone with 43 bumper stickers and a license plate with the popular acronym ‘YOLO’ on it tacky. If you own glitter Uggs, “you might just be tacky too,” says Weird Al in this witty song. The video features celebrities like Jack Black, Aisha Tyler, and Margaret Cho dancing and singing to the comedic lyrics, while looking happy doing it.
He also does some rearranging in Lorde’s song “Royals” by calling it “Foil.” This video depicts Weird Al as a commercial spokesperson, describing tinfoil as the best method for food-storage. But he continues to play on words by simply claiming foil can protect him from conspiracies and alien mind-reading. Click here to read more about this story.
Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” didn’t escape Weird Al’s comedy series either. Instead it’s called “World Crimes”—cracking down on improper grammar. Lyrics like “You better slow down and use the right pronoun,” and “You should never write words using numbers (or WR1T3 WORD5 U51N6 Numbers) unless you’re seven or your name is Prince,” educates listeners on how to use proper English, as Weird Al becomes a grammar police.
