Cross My Heart Hope to Die, the collaborative project of DJ Muggs, Andrew Kline of Strife, and West Coast MC/singer Brevi, has released its second single, “Tears of God.”
The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming EP, Vita E Morte, which will be out on July 29. It was preceded by the first single from the EP, “Two Shots,” which was released in June. This EP will be the follow-up to last year’s self-titled debut EP.
“Tears of God” begins with a simple guitar part and an almost-spoken vocal, but gradually adds layers to become more nuanced. The vocals become sing-songy, but then revert back to a whisper, then return to a smooth tune. Behind all of this, the instrumentals change as well, with the guitar keeping the beat and percussion disappearing and reappearing throughout. Stream the song below via SoundCloud.
