Mark Lanegan is pushing closer and closer to releasing a new album. For now, he’s provided two new tracks to tide us over in the meanwhile.
According to a recent article on Alternative Nation, Mark Lanegan just debuted two completely new songs, ostensibly coming from his new, yet-to-be-released album. Lanegan, formerly of Screaming Trees, has appeared in video with supergroup Sweet Apple, jammed with Josh Homme & co. on Desert Sessions tracks, and collaborated with the Stooges

Now, Lanegan is preparing to release his own new music, and he’s backed this time by the Mark Lanegan Band. Expect to see both of Lanegan’s new songs (viewable via Youtube below) on his upcoming new record. And speaking of those two tracks, “I Am Wolf” and “Judgment Time” showcase Lanegan’s gravelly vocals and piercing lyrics, with a minimalist sound that hearkens back to a time when a musician’s talent and a vocalist’s ability defined the music that resulted. The videos come from a performance by Lanegan and two guitarists on Seattle’s KEXP 90.3 FM.
