WATCH: Hospitality Releases New Music Video For “I Miss Your Bones”

Brooklyn-based Indie pop trio Hospitality has recently released new music video for their song, “I Miss Your Bones” on NPR. The track that inspired the video can be found on Hospitality’s sophomore album, Trouble, which is available right now in LP, CD, or digital formats via Merge Records. U.K. music magazine Mojo summed the album up as, “Sweet at its core, but pleasantly dark at the edges.”

On the surface, “I Miss Your Bones” is a catchy track with a driving drum beat and punk-influenced vocals. But, in keeping with the description by Mojo, there’s a darkness to this track. The darker side to the track comes through in lyrics like, “a thousand miles away I’ll die
too far to reach,” and “wake up lonely because you left me all on my own, still I’m wounded with a fever, I miss your bones.”

The song is also works around a metaphor of tangibility contrasted with intangibility, because in the digital age we are so interconnected, but there’s an impersonal nature to communication. How can we as a generation, or as a society, miss someone that we’re able to be in constant connection with?

“In this scenario, I think missing someone’s bones—the things that make them real and standing before you as opposed to on the internet or in your email—makes total sense,” said “I Miss Your Bones” video director Laura Gallagher in a press release.

The video features a lot of hairstyling, laptops with Youtube instructional style videos for the band parts and hair tutorials, and Gallagher’s favorite age group – junior high school girls.
