Death Grips Announces Break Up

One of the most unique mixtures in music has called it quits and has “officially stopped” doing music.

Death Grips was comprised of Stefan Burnett, Andy Morin, and Zach Hill. Based out of Sacramento, California, they began making music in late 2010. The experimental hip hop and punk rock trio posted a hand written note on Facebook to announce the end of Death Grips. All upcoming tour dates have been cancelled, however, their album the powers that b , is still set to drop later this year. the powers that b is a double album and will be their fifth in less than 4 years. The first eight tracks of the new album can be streamed and downloaded in mxdwn’s previous story on the album announcement.

The note and Facebook post reads:

we are now at our best and so Death Grips is over. we have officially stopped. all currently scheduled live dates are canceled. our upcoming double album “the powers that b” will still be delivered worldwide later this year via Harvest/Third Worlds Records. Death Grips was and always has been a conceptual art exhibition anchored by sound and vision. above and beyond a “band”. to our truest fans, please stay legend.
