Modest Mouse w Mimicking Birds @ The Capitol Theatre 08/05

Modest Mouse was formed in Issaquah, Washington in 1993. Isaac Brock (vocals/guitar), Jeremiah Green (drums), and Eric Judy (bass) wrote the band’s first EP Blue Cadet-3, Do You Connect? in 1994. They wrote an album, Sad Sappy Sucker, but due to delays it was never released. The band then moved from K Records, through which they had released their EP, to Up Records. With their new label Modest Mouse released their debut album This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About. The band’s next release was an EP, Interstate 8, followed by another full-length, The Lonesome Crowded West. The band’s popularity spiked during this time and they released another EP titled The Fruit That Ate Itself. A collection, called Building Nothing Out of Something, of Modest Mouse singles and rarities was released in 1999 by Up Records. The band moved to Epic Records in 2000. They released Building Nothing Out of Something, a compilation record, and the full-length The Moon & Antarctica shortly thereafter. It was their most successful record to date and the following year the band released Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks, another collection. In 2003 the band underwent line up changes and with new members released Good News for People Who Love Bad News in 2004. After more changes to the line up, Modest Mouse released We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank in 2007. In 2009 the band’s line up changed yet again and they also released No One’s First and You’re Next. Currently, the band’s line up is Isaac Brock (lead vocals, guitars, banjo, ukulele), Jeremiah Green (drums, percussion), Joe Plummer (drums, percussion) and Tom Peloso (guitars, upright bass, keyboards, fiddle, horns).
