Set It Off is an American pop-punk/symphonic rock band from Tampa, Florida. They gained recognition through vocalist Cody Carson’s YouTube channel. The band later signed to Equal Vision Records after releasing a series of successful extended plays. They have shared the stage with the impressive likes of My Chemical Romance, A Day To Remember, Say Anything, Against Me! and We Came As Romans.
On January 2, Equal Visions Records released a video on their YouTube page, announcing that Set It Off would be recording a new album with John Feldmann, which would be released sometime in 2014. Drummer, Maxx Danziger, commented about the album stating “We are very proud of our last release, Horrible Kids EP, but this album is just on a different level, and we’re very, very excited about it. This is a new era of Set It Off, and we’re ready for it.”
Set It Off first fit into the pop-punk genre, and has grown to define themselves as orchestral pop punk. The orchestral string sounds are programmed and sequenced synthesizers added during production rather than traditionally recorded acoustic instruments.
