A few weeks ago, experimental electro-pop artist Grimes (née Claire Boucher) debuted three new songs from her upcoming album at New York’s Governor’s Ball. One of those songs was “Go,” track Boucher originally wrote for labelmate Rihanna (who, as the story goes, turned it down). Now, Grimes has officially released the song — and it seems to be a preview of a much-anticipated (but still very hush-hush) follow-up to 2012’s highly acclaimed Visions.
“Go” doesn’t sound quite like anything Grimes has done before — it’s sultry and has a radio-friendly dubstep influence that might pave the way for her entrance into the mainstream pop world. But the distinctive otherworldliness we’ve come to associate with Grimes is undeniable here. Take a listen to “Go” here:
