Aphex Twin’s Caustic Window Sells For $46,300 To Markus “Notch” Persson

A test press of Aphex Twin’s 1994 album Caustic Window has now sold on eBay for quite a bit of money.

The record went unreleased for two decades, but Kickstarter campaign by Rephlex Records and We Are The Music Makers (WATMM) aimed to make enough money to buy the rights to the album. The original goal was to raise $9,300, but the final tally was $67,424, allowing a total of 4,115 people to own the album.

It was released digitally, but there were a few test copies in existence, one of which just sold in an eBay auction to Markus “Notch” Persson, creator of the video game Minecraft. A portion of the $46,300 bid that won Caustic Window will go to charity, with WATMM currently voting on which charity to give the money to.
