You probably had a decent idea of what to expect the second you read the headline. Whenever “OK Go” and “video” share a sentence, things are bound to get interesting. No disappointment here, check out the mind-bending “The Writing’s On The Wall” below.
Rube Goldberg devices, treadmill dancing, and a horde of well-trained dogs. OK Go has always excelled at the difficult art of the music video, racking up viral hit after viral hit with their original, unusual approach. It’s been two years since they’ve released 2012’s “Needing/Getting” – a wildly impressive feat of planning, playing and driving (Kulash even went to the “trouble” of learning the basics of stunt driving). So how do you top something like that? Well…
Turns out you dial things back. “The Writing’s On The Wall” eschews the crazy, big budget ideas, instead using a warehouse, and an awful lot of loose parts and paint. Prepare for some truly vicious illusions; highlights include disappearing cubes, mirror tricks, and one final, wild reveal. Oh, and there’s a really good song in the background.
