Nirvana’s favorite Scottish rockers are gearing up to release a new album. V For Vaselines by, well, the Vaselines is ready to drop September 29. But, as the late-night-tv says, there’s more – look below for “One Lost Year”, a new track off the album.
Originally founded in 1986 by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, the Vaselines didn’t have much of a first run. After releasing two EPs and their debut studio-length album, the band went their separate ways. It’s likely that they wouldn’t be much more than a cult favorite in the US, were it not for Nirvana. The grunge superstars covered three Vaselines songs, providing one of the most epic name drops a band could ever hope for in the process. Massive exposure, Sub Pop coverage, and an opening spot for Nirvana’s UK tour resulted.
As we’ve seen before, it’s hard to keep a good act down. The Vaselines reformed in 2008, and released Sex with an X, their first new music in a very long time, in 2010. And now it looks like we’re getting another one. V For Vaselines is confirmed, listed, and ready to go.
