While we may be living in a “Messed Up World (F’d Up World)”, according to The Pretty Reckless. The band picked a perfect day at the beach to film their recently released music video that is co-director and The Pretty Reckless lead vocalist Taylor Momsen’s idea of a such a world.
“Messed Up World” is the radio friendly title of what was originally called “F’d Up World”, and is available on the band’s album, Going to Hell. One of the first things viewers will notice – aside from the beach – is that the song shows off a grittier side to lead vocalist Taylor Momsen’s voice. We find her alternating between singing with her band, and playing on the beach with a few of her girlfriends friends. And, Momsen’s friends have a job the throughout the video: they’re holding cue cards with the lyrics written out in magic marker, and changing them as the words are sung.
Aside from the beach scenes of Momsen performing with the band, and hanging out with her friends, The Pretty Reckless’s video makes a statement. The video alternates between the beach during the day, and the beach at night, where two women in body paint are nearly making out. But, the pair turns the tables on the viewers by holding up a sign reading, “Is this what you want to see?”
The Pretty Reckless have a number of tourdates this summer and fall, and Going to Hell is out now.
