Yob is up, running, and in true metal spirit, completely impossible to stop. The doom metal veterans continue to make the most of their six-year second wind, and are slated to release a new album this coming fall.
Yob hails from Oregon, and they’ve done so for a long, long time. Founder Mike Scheidt put the band together all the way back in 1996. Four solid albums resulted, but you know what they say about all good things – Yob called it a day in early 2006.
…and then they came back in 2008. What was originally meant to be a short-lived touring reunion turned into a full Yob renaissance. The upcoming Clearing the Path to Ascend will be their third post-reunion album, and they show no sign of slowing down.
Four tracks of doom-drenched glory await. Yob’s always been a bit of an oddity as far as metal bands go, and the upcoming album promises to put a few more influences – prog rock and drone among them – on display. However, their song titles show a heck of a lot of metal influence, and not too much else. Check ’em out below.
