The electro experimental artist Grimes got signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation last December, and soon after she teamed with Montreal producer Blood Diamonds to write song for label mate Rihanna, who reportedly passed on it. And so Grimes brought the song with her to play on her own at last weekend’s Governors Ball in NYC.
“Go” is a touch different from other Grimes work, and she even mentioned that in some Tweets she posted prior to the festival. She also promised it would be one of three new songs she’d be performing at Governors Ball, and she delivered, with “David” and “Sleepwalking” rounding out the trio.
Rumor has it these tunes are hinting at a new album for Grimes, her first since 2012’s Visions, but nothing concrete has been reported yet. Til there’s more solid news on the matter, hear a chunk of “Go” and its electro-fied beat drops below:
