Mastodon has released another teaser track “Chimes at Midnight”. The new song is off their upcoming album, Once More ‘Round The Sun’.
Once More ‘Round The Sun’ will be Mastadon sixth album. The album release date is set for June 24. In addition to release of the songs “Chimes At Midnight” and “High Road”, the cover art for the new album has also been released. Loudwire.com tried to describe the cover art, “We can’t even begin to interpret the insanity going on in this album cover. Imagine being launched into space by an heroic dose of Ayahuasca and meeting this tripped-out beast. You may need a change of pants, but whatever this monster is, it brings forth awesome music on behalf of Mastodon”.
Mastondon is made up of bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Brent Hinds, guitarist Bill Kelliher, and drummr Brann Dalior. In an interview with Paste, Sanders commented on the new album. “A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off. And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas. I’ve had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it’s solid. It’s a large slab of granite. I’m once again completely proud of these guys.”
