Interpol Announces New Album for September 2014 Release

On September 9th, Interpol is releasing a fifth album, El Pintor. El Pintor is a Spanish language title meaning, “The Painter”. And, it’s also an anagram of the band’s name. This release is the first from the band since their self-titled album, Interpol, which came out in 2010.

Interpol completed most of the work for El Pintor at New York City’s Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound. And, “they finished mixing earlier this year while touring the UK. James Brown (Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys) served as engineer, while Alan Moulder was charged with mixing,” according to Consequence of Sound.

Notably, El Pintor is the first album where the front man Paul Banks expands his role within the band by taking on bass parts. And it will be featuring guest appearances by: Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. of Beck and Air, Brandon Curtis of the Secret Machines, and Bon Iver’s Rob Moose.

Additionally, the band made a video of the title track, and Interpol is touring in the U.S. and Europe at concerts and festivals this summer and fall; so, don’t hesitate to catch them at a town near you.
