Sometimes you just want to watch something…pleasant. Alexis Taylor’s new music video won’t surprise, shock, or awe you – but it will probably relax you.
Taylor, best known for his work with British electro-pop crew Hot Chip, is gearing up for the release of his second solo album, Await Barbarians. And don’t expect this to be a clone of previous work – Taylor’s vocals remain warm, but he’s ditched the glitz of say, “Ready for the Floor” in favor of a much simpler aesthetic.
And so we come to “Without a Crutch”. It’s a simple, dreamy song, and an extremely intimate one. Listen to it, and you can almost imagine Taylor swaying about soulfully, maybe wearing a dippy sweater and retiree spectacles.
