Black Lips Announce Fall 2014 Tour Dates

Garage rock heroes Black Lips are gearing up for a Fall tour. Dates have been announced in support of Underneath the Rainbow, their seventh and most recent studio album.

Rough-edged Southern garage rock isn’t a common tag for bands, but the Black Lips fit the bill nicely. The Georgian rockers have been around since 1999 – they’ve matured since. Sort of. There’s less urination at their shows now, and that has to count for something.

Anyway, the band is offering ample opportunities to verify that. They’ve got a brutal touring season ahead of them, with shows running from the end of July into the start of November. Joining them are perennial collaborators The King Khan & BBQ Show, a Montreal-based garage rock duo. The two bands have a long and fruitful history – the Canadians supported Black Lips on their first European tour, and also briefly amalgamated with them to form the psych-gospel sextet (another label we don’t see very often) The Almighty Defenders.
