Behemoth Deported From Russia

One terrifying Polish death metal crew over the line. Behemoth has been deported from Russia after a short detainment, derailing the Russian leg of their European tour.

Alright, so we’d probably think twice before opening our front door if those fine fellows knocked, but we’re sure a Russian migration office has seen much worse. In any event, Behemoth’s Russian aspirations are kaput. A visa mixup apparently was all it took to land the Gdańsk metal veterans in detainment for a night before being deported. Frontman Nergal reported some less than sanitary conditions:

It was a very small room on a half meter. On the walls were smeared with feces. At night, we asked [to be] taken to the toilet, but we were somehow denied. Had to go in plastic bottles.

Charming.

It’s worth noting that Polish-Russian relations are a little frigid at the moment. Russia’s recent movements in Ukraine have surrounding nations, including Poland increasingly concerned. Said tensions probably did little to help Behemoth’s case – the band’s been booted, and is presumably headed home.
