WATCH: Bret McKenzie Perform His Version of “I’ll Get You What You Want (Cockatoo in Malibu)” From Muppets Most Wanted

Flight of the Concords’ Bret McKenzie performs the original song he wrote for Muppets Most Wanted.

If you haven’t caught Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted that came out in March, check out this video of Bret McKenzie singing along with Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. The antagonist, Constantine, initially sings the song in the movie. This is just one of the several original songs written by McKenzie for the musical, comedy film and the first film, The Muppets, that came out in November 2011. Man or Muppet won an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 84th Academy Awards in February 2012. In the movie, Man or Muppet is performed by Jason Segal and Peter Linz as main characters Gary and Walter.

The Muppets have come a long way from being constrained as a children’s show as the soundtrack broke the top 40 on Billboard’s charts. Breaking away from his alternative singer songwriter genre, McKenzie creates a disco vibe that appeals to all ages.
