Radio Top 40 legend Casey Kasem, who was reported missing earlier this week, has been found safe in Washington State, according to The Huffington Post and the New York Daily News. The 82-year-old was reported missing by his daughter and has been suffering from bad health in recent years.
Kasem’s mysterious disappearance has reportedly been wrapped up in some family drama. His children say that his wife Jean Kasem, who he’s been married to for the last 34 years, has been intentionally trying to keep him away from them. Last Monday, the law got involved, as a judge ordered an investigation into where he was located. His family has also stated that Kasem has lately suffered from Lewy body dementia, a disease that may have left him unable to speak.
Officers from the Santa Monica Police Department say Kasem was found somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. After that announcement was made, however, his daughter said that no one had contacted her with the news.
Kasem is known for creating “American Top 40” in 1970. He was the host of the program until 1988 and then returned from 1998-2004. After that, he was replaced by Ryan Seacrest and gradually moved out of the spotlight. “Scooby Doo” fans may also recognize his voice as the one that brought life to the character Shaggy.
