Folk songstress Sharon Van Etten has just released her newest track, “Your Love is Killing Me”, the third teaser in a line of single releases this spring leading to her upcoming album drop in May on Jagjaguwar.
The Brooklyn singer-songwriter has been all over this past months, as the release of her fourth album Are We There draws closer. She dropped her first single, the dark reverb-soaked “Taking Chances”, with an accompanying video early April, followed by the more upbeat “Everytime the Sun Comes Up”, also followed by a video.
This third single showcases her sense of grandeur mixing with a dark side of folk, featuring a organ-synth and deliberate, echoing percussion. Her vocals come in wavering, rising to a crescendo as her guitar comes in for the bridge and spills into a fabulous chorus. The track is a wonderful example of her versatility and musicianship, and definitely worth a listen or five. Check it out below, and make sure to catch her on any remaining dates of her summer tour!
