Lately Flaming Lips has been around the news section for all the wrong reasons (read: Kliph Scurlock fired from the band) however, this is different: The psychedelic seminal band announced a cover record of what is considered the holy grail of records now days. Something to be REALLY excited about.

It comes as no surprise that the band led by the iconic Wayne Coyne (above) likes to pay tribute to musicians who have influenced them (everyone for that matter). Following their re interpretations of Pink Floyd’s The Drak Side Of The Moon, King Crimson’s In The Court Of King Crimson and the Stone Roses’ self-titled debut, the Oklahoma-based band embarked in the difficult task of re-working The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s, probably the most referenced album of our times and one of the most acclaimed records of all time.
The tribute record, titled With A Little Help Of My Fwends, is set to be released on Oct 28th with pre-orders starting May 18; those who purchase the album in advance would get an instant download of Lips’ ft. Miley Cyrus and Moby recent rendition of “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds”. Collaborations with the twerking queen have been abundant recently, we know for sure a version of Beatles’ “A Day in the Life” was recorded and she has become regular guest on Falming Lips’ shows. Miley and Moby aren’t the only guests in this Beatles celebration, according to PRETTYMUCHAMAZING, MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden, Tame Impala, Phantogram, Foxygen and Electric Würms (a LIPS side project) will also appear on the record.
It was also announced that a portion of the profit from sales of the album will go to The Bella Foundation, an Oklahoma city organization that helps low income, elderly, or terminally ill pet owners with the costs of care for their pets.
