The Neighbourhood, sometimes labeled as “THE NBHD,” is an American rock band, that formed in 2011. The band is composed of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, drummer Brandon Fried, and bassist Mikey Margott. The band has released two EPs, I’m Sorry… and Thank you. Their debut full length album, I Love You., was released in April of 2013 on Columbia Records.
I Love You. scaled the charts and debuted at number 39 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. A few months following the release, The Neighbourhood performed the lead single “Sweater Weather” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Sweater Weather” topped the charts in the following months and reached number 1 on Billboard’s alternative chart and broke the top ten on Billboard Heatseekers chart. Rolling Stone debuted the world premiere of I Love You. on April 16 describing the album as “moody” and “atmospheric.” In April of this year, the band announced via Twitter that the single “Sweater Weather” went double platinum.
The Neighbourhood is known for their black and white imagery which is demonstrated throughout their music, artwork and music videos. Their latest work is a mixtape titled, #000000 & #FFFFFF, the HTML codes for black and white. The tape will feature their newest tracks, ‘Unfair’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Lurk’ which have all been released.
