Dave Grohl of Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and most recently Sound City Players fame has just landed his own TV show. And it isn’t just television—it’s HBO.
According to a recent article, The former Nirvana drummer will be appearing on HBO in a program all his own. It’ll be one part talkshow, one part highly-produced jam session, and all parts awesome. The series will follow Grohl as he interviews artists and records with some of them in a variety of well known recording studios. News of the show comes as the most recent in a series of reminders that Grohl is continuing to contribute to the world of music in all kinds of ways.
Things have been going pretty well lately for Grohl who, in addition to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame along with Nirvana, recently directed documentary called Sound City: Real to Reel, chronicling the history of the Sound City recording studio where countless artists have gone to record a long list of classic albums. Grohl even took home a Grammy for the soundtrack he produced for the film, and played a star role in the actual show-stopping performance in the ceremony’s finale. And more recently, the hatchet was buried between Grohl and Courtney Love in the lead-up to the celebration of Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, all in all, things probably couldn’t be going any better for Grohl these days. Watch for his show, which expands on Sound City‘s theme of exploring the legends of classic recording spaces, to be part of HBO’s next winter schedule.

According a recent press release, the show will follow the recording process of the Foo Fighters’ newest (and as yet unnamed and unreleased) album, as the band makes stops in a series of cities. You’ll be able to watch as the members of the band stop in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington D.C., and New York, recording one part of the album at each stop.
