Ever notice how it’s getting harder and harder to name musical genres? People like Flying Lotus don’t make it any easier. The guy’s dabbled in so many different types that any attempt at description would probably involve at least four or five hyphens.
We’ll skip the attempt. Check out “Phantasm” below.
“Phantasm” originally came off of FlyLo’s 2012 oeuvre Until the Quiet Comes. The album, a two-year labor, received rave reviews for its innovative combination of techniques and influence. Laura Darlington of Long Lost contributed her considerable vocal talents to “Phantasm”, which wound up being a subdued, psychadelic masterpiece.
And hey! It has a video now. Much like the song, it’s tranquil, ambiguous, and very pretty. Shot in New Zealand, the video plunks a pair of beings down in a desert landscape, and lets things develop from there. Odd, but again, very pretty. Check it out.
