We’ll admit it – we’re not exactly familiar with the “dream-trap” genre. For those who are, or those who want to be, exciting news. Ex “bedroom rapper” and viral sensation Kitty has released a new track, check “Emobounce” below.
Kitty (formerly Kitty Pryde) is young, Floridian, and in the first stretches of what promises to be one heck of a career. She first rose to internet prominence after “Orion’s Belt”, a collaboration with rapper Riff Raff, featured on Vice’s music channel Noisey. The song predictably took off, racking up over 2 million views in the process. That right there is how you make a solid first impression.
Let’s get back to the dream-trap. Kitty’s cryptically named songs (trust us, “Emobounce” is a shortened title) front spacey sound effects and machine-gun lyrical delivery. It’s an interesting package, and “dream-trap” fits it as well as anything. “Emobounce” comes in with higher production values than her previous work – part of her shift away from what she calls “bedroom rapper” status. It’s also just the first taste of an upcoming EP, Impatiens has a May 13 drop-date, and comes with four songs on top of “Emobounce”.
