Duck Sauce Releases New Video for “NRG”

Duck Sauce has released a New Video for “NRG”, off of their debut LP, Quack. The video features Kroll Show comedian Jon Daly.

Duck Sauce is made up of turntable DJ A-Trak (Alain Macklovitch) and NY house producer Armand Van Helden. The duo is known for creating goofy songs and the video for “NRG” is no different. “NRG” was created as a sample of the 1985 song “Energy” by Melissa Manchester. The video centers on A-Trak and Armand Van Helden watching a late night infomercial for a product that can cure anything. As the video goes on, the claims of the product get quite ridiculous.

In an interview with Pitchfork, Macklovitch describes Duck Sauce’s motto saying, “the best thing we can do is to turn off our brains and tap into whatever our instincts are, which allows ourselves to do ridiculous stuff in the studio and keep what sticks”.

In 2007, Helden and Macklovitch met. Two years later, the duo decided to create a house music song to appeal to club DJs. From these origins, the duo has established a tradition of getting together roughly once a year and working together to create a new song. In 2010 Duck Sauce released a track titled “Barbra Streisand” which became wildly popular. The music video for the song has over 70 million views.
