Dum Dum Girls have released their newest video, a hazy, bright color-infused cartoon that works well with their single, “Rimbaud Eyes.” Featuring actual shots of the band, redone in Warhol-esque hues as well as charming animated avatars of the group, it’s a fun piece.

“Rimbaud Eyes” is one of three singles off of the band’s latest album Too True. The album, which also includes singles “Are You Okay?” and “Lost Boys and Girls Club,” was produced by Richard Gottehrer, who also had a hand in the music of Blondie and The Go-Gos. It’s easy to see the possible influence there–Dum Dum Girls’ latest project is true to form: heavy on the pop but with a lot of depth too.
The “Rimbaud Eyes” video is not only graphically innovative and fun, it fits perfectly with the early 1960’s girl-group image the band has maintained since its inception. The video starts out with bright colors, but as the song gets slightly more sinister, so does the imagery. Frontwoman Dee Dee Penny spends most of the middle part of the video walking down a graphically altered version of a dark street at night, complete with X-rated neon signs.
Starting May 1st, Dum Dum Girls hit the road for a European tour that’s set to start in London and finish up June 7th at Primavera. Later on in the summer, they’ll head across the Atlantic for appearances at Pitchfork, Burger a-Go-Go and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival. Check out the brand new video below.
