Cali alt-rock outfit The Neighbourhood (THE NBHD) have announced that they will be releasing a mixtape in the coming months.
Ever obsessed with monochrome, the black and white rockers titled their unreleased mixtape #000000 and #FFFFFF, hoping to switch it up instead of releasing an album and EP. The tape will feature a brand spanking new set of songs, including tracks ‘Unfair’, ‘Silver’, and ‘Lurk’ which have all been released. Even better, the mixtape is to be completely free! To give us a taste of what’s next on the mixtape, THE NBHD have also released a video to accompany ‘Lurk’, a 3:44 minute black and white montage of Russian figure skater Evengi Plushenko’s gold medal skating routine (see below).
The young band broke onto the California alt-rock scene after releasing their first two EPs, I’m Sorry… and Thank You with their debut album, I Love You (these guys are kind of sentimental). The band is composed of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, drummer Brandon Fried and bassist Mikey Margott, who have all been busy since working on #00000 & #FFFFFF. They also appeared at SXSW this year with an exclusive show for .html, and just yesterday they webcast for Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some monochrome goodness in the next couple of weeks!
