WATCH: The Horrors Release New Video For “So Now You Know”

British shoegaze band The Horrors have a new video to match their newest track. “So Now You Know” is the latest preview of their newest album Luminous, set to drop on May 6th through XL Recordings. The song was released several months ago, but the video tells a story all its own.

Self-described by the band as a “short film,” the video for “So Now You Know” definitely tells a story. Filmed on the edge of Los Angeles in a sleepy looking desert neighborhood, the video includes lots of aerial shots and captures the loneliness and emotions of teenagers living in the area. As the song’s lyrics and synth background slowly build throughout the first three minutes, the viewer sees shots of suburban scenery, and then the video takes a different turn. In the second half, the characters in the music video start to do a kind of slow motion dance that sort of resembles the wave, but also adds to the surreal, hazy quality of the song and the story.

Luminous is the long-awaited sequel to The Horrors’ 2011 release Skying, and has a ten-track listing. In February, they released the seven and a half minute single, “I Can See You.” The band is also looking at a packed few weeks leading up to the album’s release. They’ll play the Vans Classic & City Event in Brooklyn on April 29th, before playing a sold-out show in L.A. on May 1st. They’ll also be making an appearance at the Austin Psych Festival. After what The Horrors have said was 15 months of hard work putting Luminous together, its release is getting very close. In the meantime, you can watch the video for “So Now You Know” below.
