New work from La Sera, and not nearly as blue as the last two. Another track from Hour of the Dawn is out, and it kicks ass…cheerfully. Listen to “Running Wild” below.

You probably know La Sera better as Katy Goodman, formerly of the Vivian Girls. Even before the group split though, she was performing as La Sera. Goodman’s first two albums were heavily informed by a rough breakup, and accordingly were incredibly upbeat and unflaggingly cheery. Hah, no, they were depressing as hell.
But, to put it in Goodman’s words: “I didn’t want it to be another record of me sad, alone in my room. I wanted to have fun playing music and writing songs with a band.” Fine sentiments, and she’s backed them up by assembling a solid band to help flesh out her music. “Running Wild” is a tight-wound, but undeniably positive song, and we’re looking forward to more material in the same mold.
