The Black Keys will be releasing their latest to us in less than a month, and to keep us content ’til then, they’ve offered another taste of the new album with the leak of title track “Turn Blue,” which you can hear below.
News of the release of Turn Blue, out May 13th, first came to us thanks to a Mike Tyson Tweet and somewhat creepy teaser of a video. Since then, the rockin’ duo has delivered the blues-packed “Fever” to the masses, and are now going a step further with “Turn Blue.”
Danger Mouse stepped in to produce part of the band’s album once again, after making significant contribution to the last three records from The Black Keys – 2008’s Attack and Release, 2010’s Brothers and 2011’s El Camino. His work with “Turn Blue” is apparent in the slinky electronics effects used in its background – coupled with Dan Auerbach’s lightened vocals, the song feels written for a ’70s movie soundtrack.
Take a listen to “Turn Blue” for yourself:
A few days after the new album’s release, be sure to catch The Black Keys at Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival, their only U.S. stop before they take off for a European-only tour this summer.
