Richard D. James, an Irish electronic music composer has gone by many names. Aphex Twin is just one of many. There’s also AFX, GAC, Bradley Strider, Q-Chastic, Caustic Window and more. Under the name Caustic Window, James made an album that only made it to test pressing. The test pressed album was originally on sale for $13,500, but a deal has been struck and it looks like the album will be digitally available for some. Find out how you can get your hands on one after the jump.
We Are The Music Makers, an electronic music forum, is starting a kickstarter campaign to help buy the test pressing of the Caustic Window album. The forum already bargained the price down to about $8,400.00. Those who donate to the kickstarter campaign will get digital copies of the album themselves. Those who don’t get the chance to donate will still have a spot at grabbing the album as We Are The Music will be selling 500 digital copies of the album for $16.73 a piece.
James is renowned for his talent in composition, as a musician and as a conductor. He founded his own successful record label, Rephlex Records in 1991 but continued with his own music too. FACT magazine named his album, Selected Ambient Works 85-92, the best album of the 1990’s. Since then, the album was reissued on vinyl. He has continued with music under many names and has deeply influenced modern music with his ambient sequences.
