The Flaming Lips Split With Drummer Kliph Scurlock

Longtime drummer of The Flaming Lips, Kliph Scurlock, appears to have been fired from the group.

Rumors of the drummer’s departure were sparked when he didn’t appear for their set at the New Orleans Buku Music Project. Recently, representative confirmed to Pitchfork that Scurlock was no longer in the band. A member since 2002, this is understandably big news.

Matt Duckworth of White Dwarfs and Stardeath filled in at Buku and this has led some to believe he will be the next drummer for the bands continuing tour dates. The Flaming Lips will be playing their next show down south at the Hangout Music Festival in Alabama, and will also be playing at Bonnaroo in June. They tail off their tour in the UK and Iceland in the fall- check out the full dates below.
