In a tribute to Kurt Cobain, Muse played a cover of Nirvana’s song “Lithium” as part of their set at the Lollapalooza in Brazil on Saturday night. This week marks the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his Seattle, Washington home.
The band Muse formed in 1994 in England. Best known for their lively performances on stage and the large array of music genres within their songs, their music has been largely successful. Muse’s latest album, The 2nd Law, is their sixth album and has been met with mixed reactions. The album came out on September 28, 2012. The album was a nominee for Best Rock Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards and the song “Madness” was nominated for Best Rock Song. The album also made number 46 on Rolling Stone’s top 50 albums of 2012. The Rolling Stone’s commented “In an era of diminished expectations, Muse make stadium-crushing songs that mix the legacies of Queen, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin and Radiohead while making almost every other current band seem tiny.”
Live at Rome Olympic Stadium, The band’s third live album was released on November 29, 2013. This live album is a recording of The Unsustainable Tour concert, where the band toured in Europe.
In January it was confirmed that Muse will be headlining Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 12th and 19th. Other *artists expected to perform are OutKast, Broken Bells, and Ellie Goulding, to name a few.
