Heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity has entered its third decade, but is still going strong. While working on a new album set to be released later this year, the band is making their way around the world, announcing new East Coast tour dates after finishing up a European tour.
Formed in 1982, Corrosion of Conformity’s lineup has changed, but kept many of the same core members. This time around though, the band is performing without Pepper Keenan, who is now a member of the band Down. After releasing their seventh studio album in 2012, the band has been busy, putting out new singles and getting ready to release a new album, which they say will be out sometime in 2014.
On this tour, Corrosion of Conformity is set to team up with other sludge/thrash metal bands that are still alive and well and on the scene. Eyehategod, who just released a new single, will team up with the band for the performance, and Spirit Caravan and High on Fire will also take the same stage as Corrosion of Conformity. Although the band’s releases have been fewer and farther between than their earlier hits in the ’80s and ’90s, three original members remain with the group (although granted, two of them took periods of extended breaks): Woody Weatherman, Mike Dean and Reed Mullin.
It’s a tour that’s finding the band changed and adapted, but still staying true to much of its earlier work.
