Atlanta rock band Black Lips has put out a new video for their track “Nightmare Field.” It’s a bonus track on the album the group just released a few weeks ago, Underneath the Rainbow.
The rock song is fast-paced with a hard guitar line, and Black Lips made the video to match. The video shows the band dressed up like greasers and bikers, gearing up their motorcycles for a colorful ride around the countryside (done with moving images projected behind scenes of band members on their bikes.) It’s interspersed with footage of the band playing, against colorful backgrounds that pop out against their black jackets. The Pink Angels-inspired video was recorded at Living Room Studios in Atlanta and was also directed by Bryan Bankovitch.
Black Lips are unique not only for the buzz they’ve seen over their concert performances, which have been known to include flaming guitars, nudity and other unusual tricks. They also enjoy playing venues that don’t otherwise see a lot of traffic. In 2012, the band went on a tour throughout the Middle East, even playing a few shows in Iraq and the surrounding countries. Black Lips members have said they’d like to go to other areas that don’t traditionally see concert tours, like Africa, Indonesia and South America.
